Laser Safety Awareness Briefing
We offer this Laser Safety Awareness Briefing in two formats for your team to receive the minimum information required for laser workplace hazard awareness.
Enrol in an online self-guided learning or book a live Zoom session with our Laser Safety Officer.
OUR SAFETY AWARENESS BRIEFING IS OPEN ENTRY - FOR ANY INDUSTRIAL LASER APPLICATION or LASER WORKPLACE
The briefing is designed to support the PCBU (person in charge of business or undertaking) in raising the awareness of their initial responsibility to protect workers, visitors, sales reps, demonstrators, and all employees or contractors who are on-site to work towards meeting the minimum New Zealand's Health and Safety at Work Act requirements when operating a laser workplace.
Either format is perfect for those who will be near or working around lasers in industrial, commercial, and laser manufacturing settings. This safety briefing helps boost hazard awareness and reminds everyone of their safety responsibilities.
When PCBU ignorance is no defence - you’ll want to know what you don’t know!
Proactively improve your team’s understanding of laser risks, making sure everyone knows their obligations while fostering a collaborative safety culture
Trigger further actions to be taken and encourage workers suggestions, and feedback to contribute to your workplace safety culture
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Are you wanting to learn the minimum knowledge required for hazard awareness when working with, or near lasers in the workplace? We suggest starting with our Basic Laser Safety Awareness Certificate. It’s suitable for any one in the industrial or commercial industries, and lasers used in the manufacturing process as basic laser hazard awareness training as required by NZ Health & Safety legislation.
-
A quick overview of some basic and essential information about lasers, the hazards they pose and how to protect people near them, and what to do if an accident or fire occurs.
For any non-operators of lasers, or those considering working with lasers.
-
You should have a Laser Safety Briefing procedure in your laser workplace if you have Class 3B, or Class 4 Lasers on-site and in use nearby, or where people can access them. This would include on factory floors, in workshop spaces, and in manufacturing plants, or where lasers may be portable.
You can customise and use the hand out notes provided in this safety briefing to relay the required and relevant information to your team, and visitors to your workplace.
-
This Safety Briefing course covers only bare minimum information required to be around lasers while they are working or activated.
Whereas the Laser Safety Training course, “Safe Use of Lasers in the Workplace”, goes into far more detail on laser, light traits, hazards, and hazard controls, as well as the specifics by laser type. It is designed for people that operate laser devices.
-
Class 3B and Class 4 lasers pose hazards.
Yes, they do if they are going to see lasers in action, be near the working laser, or they are employees, contractors or people who will be exposed to, or potentially exposed to the laser as it is a recognised hazard in the workplace.
