Director and laser educator Ruth Nicholson has extensive experience in deciphering and educating on laser technologies, with a seasoned history spanning the beauty and healthcare industries, and as the founder of NZ Laser Training Institute Ltd (NZLT), A steadfast advocate for best practices, Ruth recognises that the sector’s regulatory standards often lag behind industry growth.
As a respected voice in the Laser space, and a supporter of, and backed by the quest of both the EMA and WorkSafe, Ruth continues to carry out research and engage with the industrial laser sector including attendance at this years EMEX26 event and aims to continue promoting high standards of training, compliance, and professional accountability in laser workplaces and to educate PCBU’s in laser workplaces to industry’s highest standards.
On noticing the rapid adoption of laser technology in the industrial sector, this portal solves the issue of locating the most relevant, structured Health & Safety-based theory and compliance training. This includes the creation of a pioneering Laser Safety Officer Training (LSO) Certification which offers specialised training designed to equip organisations with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to nominate and upskill a person to act as the knowledgeable officer to advise the PCBU for a safe, compliant laser workplace.

Keith Rowden is an Auckland-based director and technical operations leader with extensive experience in projects where hazardous materials, remediation, and demolition are key risks in complex, regulated environments across the UK, Europe, and New Zealand. He now leads Project Consult Ltd, providing specialist advisory and delivery-assurance support for national programmes for education, commercial, and infrastructure clients, and technical asbestos advisory assistance for Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora – Northern Region.
Over more than two decades, Keith has held senior management roles at leading asbestos and remediation businesses, responsible for full P&L performance, operational strategy, and governance and compliance. His portfolio includes multi-million-dollar and multi-million-pound projects in nuclear power decommissioning programmes, hospitals, universities, industrial facilities, and live CBD environments, often subject to stringent HSE, ACOP, and Ministry of Education requirements.
Keith is recognised for strengthening organisational compliance, improving delivery systems, and embedding safe systems of work. He has also developed high-performing teams and built trusted client relationships.
Ongoing professional development includes upskilling expertise through advanced study in a Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management, and an Adult and Tertiary Teaching programme.
